Katie O’Malley is a District Court judge in Baltimore City, where she has served since 2001. Before her judgeship, she served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore County.
Judge O’Malley has traveled abroad to join leaders from around the world to advise on how to improve their judicial systems, including about how to use protective orders in domestic violence situations. And since 2010, she has been a teacher and course facilitator with the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, where she educates American judges about Domestic Violence and teen dating violence. She also teaches new trial judges in the State of Maryland.
She served as the First Lady of Maryland from 2007-2015, and the First Lady of Baltimore from 1999-2007.
Judge O’Malley graduated from University of Baltimore School of Law in 1988 and from Towson University in 1985.
Judge O’Malley and her husband, Martin, live in Baltimore, and have four children: Grace, Tara, William, and Jack.
